Pastor Ulis Redic

Chairperson

Ulis G. Redic has served as the senior pastor of the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Richmond since 1997. He grew up in Central and South Richmond enjoying a closely knitted family and community while participating in church activities, scouting, playing sports, and, at the same time, being surrounded by drugs, abuse, and other negative and criminal behaviors. He was trained as an operating room nurse before enlisting in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He has served on the Contra Costa County Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board, worked to ensure employment rights and practices as an employee in the Diversity Programs and Labor Relations Departments of Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. He is a retired risk management professional and trainer for Alameda County. He serves as President of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Richmond and Vicinity. Ulis earned a public administration degree from the University of San Francisco and a theological degree from the Golden State School of Theology.

I am honored to serve on the Men and Women of Purpose Board of Directors as we strengthen families by helping incarcerated and formerly incarcerated men and women acclimate into doing “life” after doing “time. I love Richmond!”

McKinkley Williams, M.A.

Vice-Chairperson

McKinley Williams was born in San Francisco and raised in Richmond. He attended San Francisco State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling. He later attended the University of Colorado Boulder, earning a master’s degree in clinical psychology. He spent the early part of his career teaching and working as a counselor before working in educational leadership. Prior to his presidency, he was appointed to the position of Dean of Instruction at College of Alameda and later served as the Dean of Instruction at Merritt College. Mack then served as President of Contra Costa Community College for 6 years until his retirement in 2012.
While he was working he served on local, state and national boards of directors. He was member of the San Pablo and Richmond Chambers of Commerce, the California State Commission on Athletics for Community Colleges, the Richmond Community Foundation, the National Consortium for Middle and Early Colleges, the National iPivot Scholarship Board of Directors, and many others. When he retired, he was considered to be one of the most progressive educators in the community college movement.

An active community member, Williams continues to serve on executive boards of the Richmond Public Library Foundation, Contra Costa College Foundation, Men and Women of Purpose (a program to decrease prison recidivism) and the City of San Pablo Oversight Committee.
